Sculptor Anne McGill will showcase a collection of her new sculptural musical pieces at her studio in Clontarf in September. Anne draws on inspiration from the elements of music to create her expressive abstract art pieces. Produced using obsolete musical instruments, the works are vibrant and quirky, filled with emotion and movement. She is drawn to abstraction which has an architectural quality and each piece can be reconstructed so the final piece is endless.
McGill was born in County Tyrone and studied architecture at Queens University, Belfast. Following a career as an architect, she has been working in sculpture full time since 2008. Her practice has moved through different mediums, starting in ceramics and bronze and now mainly working with wood, wire and flexible materials. She has exhibited in various shows including the RHA and RUA annual shows and will be showing once again at the annual Sculpture in Context exhibition at the Botanic Gardens in Dublin in September.
